HMR got its start in 1982 as Harrington Metal Recyclers, one of the first major recycling companies in Australia. Back then, we focused on the reclamation of metals from electronic products breakage. Today, still headquartered in Australia, we have three major US branches, four Australian branches and branches in Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam who specialize in remarketing consumer and business goods. In addition, all our HMR Group locations in our international network provide a broad range of environmentally responsible surplus asset-chain management and reverse logistics services.

We believe the most effective way to manage obsolete equipment is to re-purpose it. Our focus on providing the most environmentally friendly process possible prompted us to create one of the most popular chains of equipment resale stores in all of South Asia, Save On Surplus (S. O. S. ). Our 100,000 square-foot San Francisco facility focuses on buying and remarketing large volumes of computer and office equipment, providing a solid foundation of product flow for our vast distribution network.

We are also one of the largest demanufacturers in the US and South Asia, turning high-tech "junk" into remarketable commodities, extending their lives and keeping them from becoming problem landfill. In San Francisco, we have one of the few CRT crushers in the region, a partnership with the City of San Francisco.
